An electrode holder is an insulated clamping device used to clamp onto the electrode. The electrode holder is held by the welder during the welding process allowing better control over the arc. One of the benefits includes quick and easy current transfer between electrode and the holder.
Please note that electrode holders are designed for use within a specified range of electrode diameters and welding current. For example, a welding machine with a higher amp will require a bigger electrode holder than a machine with a lower amp. If the holder is not big enough for the machine, then it will overheat.
